    Ducati Desmo450 MX

At the heart of the Ducati MX Experience is the new, championship-winning Ducati Desmo450 MX motocross bike.

The Desmo450 MX is Ducati’s first motocross bike, designed around the single-cylinder 449.6cc engine with Desmodromic distribution, the system used on all Ducati racing bikes, including MotoGP.

The maximum power of the Desmo450 engine is 63.5hp at 9,400rpm, and the maximum torque delivered is 53.5Nm at 7,500rpm, while 70% of the maximum torque is reached already at 4,200rpm. The limiter intervention is set at 11,900rpm, a new benchmark for the category.

The lightweight aluminium frame has been designed to have as few welds as possible, to make it a solid, light and rigid structure. It is made up of only 11 pieces, about half compared to the competition, and is composed of cast, forged and extruded elements.

The Desmo450 MX’s suspension consists of Showa 49mm upside-down forks, which are fully adjustable with 310mm travel and Kashima Coating on the fork legs. At the rear, a fully adjustable monoshock from Showa allows 301mm of wheel travel.

Ducati’s long-standing partner Brembo provides the braking system with single Galfer discs, 260mm at the front, and 240mm at the rear.

The Desmo450 MX also represents a first in the segment in terms of electronics. It is the first motocross bike in the world equipped with a Ducati Traction Control (DTC) system capable of precisely defining the actual rear wheel slippage (patent pending).

The electronic equipment also includes Launch Control and Engine Brake Control, which, like DTC, can be configured on different levels of intervention and associated with two Riding Modes that the rider can adapt to his needs and the characteristics of the track via the X-Link App. The gearbox is equipped with a Quickshifter in engagement.

A historic day for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer: Ducati presents the Desmo450 MX ( watch the Ducati World Première episode here), the first motocross bike in its history. A bike that is born following the philosophy that has always guided Ducati: experimenting and testing solutions in racing competition to then make them available on production bikes, drawing in this case also from the experience gained by Ducati Corse in MotoGP and Superbike.

Thanks to this approach, and to a careful analysis of the segment, competitors and FIM and AMA technical regulations, Ducati has been able to create a light and reliable bike, with a high-performance Desmodromic distribution engine and electronic equipment that is the benchmark in the category. The Desmo450 MX is thus capable of amplifying the riding skills of riders, whether professional or amateur, offering the confidence that allows them to push their limits forward. A bike that, thanks to the power delivery of the engine, chassis and innovative electronics, is capable of offering high performance with reduced physical effort.

The Desmo450 MX is the first model in a complete range of specialist off-road bikes, designed to take the Borgo Panigale company into new worlds, speak to new motorcyclists and therefore grow the Ducatisti community. To prepare to welcome all future knobbly-wheeled Ducatisti into the family, Ducati are training a selection of its dealers to ensure the maximum level of professionalism and expertise in a segment that is completely new to the Borgo Panigale company.

“Over the past 18 months many people have asked me why Ducati decided to enter the world of professional off-road racing. The answer is simple: Ducati is a healthy company that generates resources, therefore has the opportunity to grow by opening up to a new segment of enthusiasts,” said Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding “We looked around, searching for the important uniqueness of our corporate culture and finding the one that I believe characterises Ducati like perhaps no other company: the closeness between the world of racing and the world of production motorbikes. And discovering, at the same time, that we have an incredible resource within us in the form of so many off-road enthusiasts in the various departments. All this has allowed us to present the Desmo450 MX today: an easy, high-performance bike, for amateurs and professionals alike, which we will constantly develop through sporting activity at the highest levels, supporting it thanks to a sales network that speaks the language of motocross enthusiasts and truly understands all their needs.”

The Desmo450 MX is designed around the single-cylinder 449.6 cc engine with Desmodromic distribution and represents a unicum in the specialist off-road panorama, offering the possibility of exploiting every ratio to the fullest, at the start and between the bends, thanks to a particularly favourable delivery, which combines torque at low and medium revs with reference over-rev capabilities.

The lightweight aluminium frame has been designed to have as few welds as possible, to the benefit of the solidity, lightness and rigidity of the structure. These choices proved to be immediately successful in the race with Alessandro Lupino, who after winning the first race of the MX1 Italian Championship became national champion. The races served to define the bike that will go into production in mid-April, and will be the best benchmark for the continued development of the Desmo450 MX and all the models that will become part of the range.

The Desmo450 MX also represents a first in the segment in terms of electronics. It is in fact the first motocross bike in the world equipped with a Traction Control system capable of precisely defining the actual rear wheel slippage (patent pending). This system identifies the riding phases in which it should not be activated so as not to limit the performance of the bike. Finally, the Desmo450 MX Ducati Traction Control can be deactivated instantly by the rider in situations where it is necessary to make use of all the engine performance, to be automatically reactivated shortly after.

The bike, which is already available to order from selected dealers, will arrive in Europe starting in June, and subsequently in the United States and the rest of the world.

Single-cylinder engine with Desmodromic distribution control
The design of the Desmo450 MX started from the engine, which is equipped with Desmodromic distribution, the system used on all Ducati racing bikes, including MotoGP. This feature offers several advantages to the Desmo450 MX, first of all the ability to run the engine at very high revs, offering the greater extension that increases the chances of starting faster than rivals at the gate and thus winning the coveted Holeshot award that goes to the rider who comes out of the first corner first. An award that the two official riders Seewer and Guadagnini won in their debut race in the Motocross World Championship, in Argentina, using a production engine equipped only with the complete Akrapovič exhaust, the same one that Ducati makes available to every enthusiast through its Performance catalogue.

The Desmo450 MX also offers a very strong torque curve at low revs, ensuring an abundance of power out of corners, with a linear delivery and unprecedented acceleration for the category. This unique power delivery curve, which provides the rider with 70% of the maximum torque already at 4,200 rpm, makes the Desmo450 MX less demanding and tiring than a traditional 450, to the full advantage of track performance and riding enjoyment. This was made possible thanks to the Desmodromic distribution, which by reducing the energy needed to open the valves allows for more aggressive lift diagrams even when choosing large diameters for the valves themselves.

Thanks to bore and stroke measurements of 96 x 62.1 mm, it was in fact possible to use 40 mm intake valves and 33 mm exhaust valves. The former are made of titanium, while the latter are made of steel, with a hollow stem filled with sodium to improve heat exchange, thus increasing reliability and consistency of performance.

Particular attention was paid to the cooling system, featuring rhomboid-shaped radiators. These represent a new feature for the segment and allow for a 6.5% higher radiating surface compared to a traditionally shaped solution, improving engine cooling while keeping the bike compact, thus offering the rider a high level of freedom of movement towards the front of the bike. Alessandro Lupino and Tony Cairoli competed in 2024 with the standard radiators, capable of guaranteeing high reliability even in the most extreme and prohibitive conditions such as in the race at Ponte a Egola, which was dominated by the two Ducati riders, and interrupted due to excessive mud on the track that forced most of the bikes to stop.

The maximum power of the Desmo450 engine is 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm, and the maximum torque delivered is 53.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The limiter intervention is set at 11,900 rpm, a new benchmark for the category.

    Chassis
The chassis of the Desmo450 MX is based on an aluminium perimeter frame. This layout was chosen to obtain a lightweight structure, which allows the engine to have intake and exhaust ducts as straight as possible, in order to guarantee the best performance. The technicians of the Borgo Panigale company have managed to create a structure weighing 8.96 kg characterized by the least possible number of welds, thus hitting the desired targets of lightness, reliability and rigidity. The frame contributes significantly to containing the weight of the bike, in a ready-to-use configuration but without fuel, at 104.8 kg.

The frame of the Desmo450 MX is made up of only 11 pieces, about half compared to the competition, and is composed of cast, forged and extruded elements. The front part, which connects the steering column with the upper shock absorber attachment, is represented by a single cast element. This construction technology, which Ducati also uses on Superbike frames, allows for total control of the thicknesses, thus using only the amount of material needed at each point and creating complex shapes without compromising weight or strength.

The extremely compact frame design was also designed to ensure the best ergonomics for the rider and at the same time quick and easy maintenance in the workshop or on the track, where operations such as disassembling the shock absorber can be carried out quickly.

The latter is mounted in a central position and works on a cast aluminium swingarm and a forged aluminium linkage. The progressivity of the link was defined during the races run in the 2024 season

The suspension and brakes of the Desmo450 MX were the subject of a targeted decision. Ducati relied on the long experience in racing competition of Showa, which was also chosen to facilitate setup for amateurs by virtue of the spring, and not air-based technical layout for the elastic component. The fork is fully adjustable, with 49 mm inverted stems, 310 mm travel and Kashima Coating treatment on the stanchions. The shock absorber is fully adjustable, the wheel travel is 301 mm. To better develop the setup, Alessandro Lupino raced the entire first part of the Italian Championship with standard suspension, confirming the validity of the choice of the equipment.

As for the braking system, Ducati has also chosen in this area to collaborate with its long-standing partner Brembo on the development, also in Motocross, of benchmark braking systems as has been the case for many years on road bikes. There is a two-piston floating caliper at the front, and a single-piston caliper at the rear. Galfer brake discs are 260 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear.

    Electronics
The experience in MotoGP and Superbike, where Ducati is a technological point of reference, allowed the Borgo Panigale technicians to introduce a real traction control system on the Desmo450 MX, one that is capable of offering benefits in terms of lap time, rider safety and energy saving while riding. Unlike the systems currently available in the segment, the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) implemented on the Desmo450 MX calibrates the power cut based on the actual rear wheel slippage and inertial measurements of the vehicle dynamics, thus guaranteeing an effective, prompt and linear intervention. This system is able to identify moments in which it should not come into action, such as jumps, automatically excluding itself. Furthermore, if the rider identifies points on the track in which he wants to make use of all the engine performance, he can deactivate the system with a light pressure on the clutch lever. The control will automatically return to operation a few moments later. Ducati Traction Control offers four different levels of intervention.

    Maintenance intervals
The maintenance intervals have been defined with the aim of reducing the related costs for the customer. Piston replacement is set at 45 hours, together with the valve clearance check while the total engine overhaul is set at 90 hours, benchmark values for the segment.

    Accessories
Thanks to the Ducati Performance catalogue, it is possible to create a replica of the Ducati Desmo450 MX ridden in the MXGP World Championship by Jeremy Seewer and Mattia Guadagnini. All the details of the 450 MX Factory, in fact, are available in the Ducati Performance catalogue with the sole exception of the official Showa suspension, which cannot be purchased by privateer riders.

The special parts offered include Factory components machined from solid such as wheel hubs, triple clamps, but also a complete exhaust or Akrapovič titanium slip-on silencer and Brembo Racing brake calipers. The list of available accessories will be progressively expanded.

Finally, to complete the Factory look, the Ducati Performance catalogue offers an entire technical collection created in collaboration with Drudi Performance. The offer consists of a complete Alpinestars jersey/pants/gloves/boots set, Arai helmet, wind vest, softshell and Spidi rain jacket.

These can be accessed using intuitive handlebar-mounted controls featuring illuminated buttons for quick, easy adjustments, while the digital speedo screen provides real-time data, including engine temperature, trip information, and gear position.

The advanced traction control system monitors rear-wheel slip and modulates power output to provide consistent grip on unpredictable surfaces, while the optimised launch control manages torque delivery to maximise traction off the line, helping riders achieve consistent, competitive starts. The Triumph-designed quickshifter enables seamless, clutch-less upshifts between second and sixth gear for uninterrupted power delivery and preserves momentum during race-critical sections.

More premium components, included as standard, include the Galfer performance braking system with 260mm front brake disc and 220mm rear brake disc, combined with Brembo twin 24mm piston floating front caliper, a single 26mm piston floating rear caliper and adjustable span brake lever.

Both models are fitted with Michelin Enduro 2 tyres, featuring an innovative tread pattern that provides better grip and traction, designed for diverse terrains (soft to hard) and conditions (mud to dry). The D.I.D DirtStar 7000 series aluminium rims, with a black anodised finish and Triumph-designed lightweight cast and machined aluminium hubs completes the look.

Ergonomics and Style for the Modern Racer
Built for the demands of competitive racing and extended trail riding, the ergonomics of the TF 250-E and TF 450-E have been designed to maximise both performance and rider comfort.

Pro Taper ACF Carbon Core handlebars with adjustable mounts enable riders to personalise the fit and feel, perfecting the positioning between the handlebar, seat and footpegs. This can minimise fatigue, enhance control during sharp turns, and reduce rider strain during prolonged standing. The ODI half-waffle lock-on grips offer exceptional hold and durability, ensuring control in all conditions.

A 955mm seat height provides optimal clearance while maintaining a manageable stand-over for technical sections while a non-slip Pyramid seat offers excellent grip and a rubbery consistency to improve positioning in both dry and wet conditions. The ergonomic design and high-quality foam padding provide superior comfort, allowing riders to ride longer without discomfort. Ducati’s £11,245 Desmo 450 MX https://www.motoheadmag.com/ducatis-11245-desmo-450-mx/ Tue, 04 Mar 2025 16:08:29 +0000 https://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=41808 In line with Ducati’s philosophy, taking racing technologies through to the production line, Ducati is now ready to bring the new Desmo450 MX to UK dealers. The Ducati Desmo 450 MX will be available to the UK market with a retail price of £11,245 at Ducati Cambridge, Ducati Leeds, Ducati Preston, Ducati North London, Chris Walker Motorcycles, GT Motorcycles and Millsport Motorcycles, who are all currently undergoing a rigorous process of technical training and assessment exclusively focused on the new model. Dealer contact details can be found via the dealer locator on Ducati.com.

New for 2025, Ducati is also enriching the motocross offering in the UK with the launch of a new Ducati MX Experience together with Barry Johnson, one of the leading figures in the sector. Johnson, having organised schools for various brands over the last 20 years, is expected to open the doors to the new Ducati MX Experience from July until November at various local sites. Bookings will open soon on Ducati.com.

This is just the first step in the evolution of Ducati history in motocross. After a successful season in the Italian Prestige MX1 national championship, that saw the debut victory of Alessandro Lupino in Mantua, to the final title clinch in Pietramurata, Ducati continues its racing development by officially entering the Motocross World Championship for the first time.

This MXGP 2025 operation will be managed by the new Aruba.it – Ducati Factory MX Team, which will rely on experienced riders such as Jeremy Seewer and Mattia Guadagnini. The Desmo 450 MX is an innovative motorcycle, and the only one in its class equipped with the desmodromic valve control system, ensuring optimal performance and precision.

At the same time, the Ducati Corse R&D – Factory MX Team will continue pursuing its development program for the following step of the Ducati MX Project, focusing on the new Desmo250 MX prototype that will take part in the Italian MX2 Championship. Alessandro Lupino, the factory rider, will work alongside the MX legend Antonio Cairoli in order to create the best possible base for the future production version of the 250MX.

KTM saved as restructure plan approved https://www.motoheadmag.com/ktm-saved-as-restructure-plan-approved/ Tue, 25 Feb 2025 16:56:30 +0000 https://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=41778 KTM’s planned restructure  has been given the thumbs-up by its creditors today and although the brand is still seeking extra investment of EUR 800 million, it says bike production will ramp up again from next month.

Its creditors approved a restricting plan on today’s deadline, after KTM secured a EUR 50 million cash injection from shareholders. This is believed to include Chinese brand CF Moto and India’s Bajaj – although there are rumours BMW may have invested too.

A newspaper in India is claiming Bajaj has paid the whole EUR 50 million, but there is no confirmation on this.

Under the deal, creditors will receive 30% of the money they are owed. To do this, KTM must deposit around EUR 550 million by May 23. Its total debts are around EUR 2 billion.

KTM has already ousted Stefan Pierer as CEO and has cut production and jobs at its HQ in Austria and its subsidiaries around the world. It will move production of more  bikes to Chine and India in a bid to cut costs.

The official info from parent group Pierer Mobility says:

Back on track – KTM AG reorganization plan accepted by creditors

    Restructuring plan accepted:
Cash quota of 30%, payable by May 23, 2025

Further fresh capital of around EUR 800 million required

Production will be ramped up again from mid-March 2025

KTM AG, a wholly owned subsidiary of PIERER Mobility AG, filed for court restructuring proceedings with self-administration on November 29, 2024. The aim of the proceedings was to agree a restructuring plan with the creditors within 90 days.

At today’s restructuring plan meeting, the creditors accepted the restructuring plan submitted by KTM AG. It provides for creditors to receive a cash quota of 30% of their claims. This cash quota is to be paid by KTM AG to the restructuring administrator by May 23, 2025.

Gottfried Neumeister, CEO of PIERER Mobility AG: “I am grateful and happy today. KTM is back on track. Our employees have done everything over the last three months to ensure that the race can continue. We have closed an important chapter today. But a single chapter never tells the whole story. Now we can continue the great story of KTM. We do it for the millions of KTM fans worldwide, to whom we are grateful every day. For our racers, of whom we are damn proud. And for our Austrian location, to which we are deeply attached in our hearts. KTM remains one of the top employers in the Upper Austrian industry.”

In order to finance the cash quota and further production, the Group requires fresh capital of around EUR 800 million. Citigroup Global Markets Europe AG (“Citigroup”) was commissioned to support this investment process in a structured, transparent and efficient manner in the interests of all stakeholders

To enable production to be ramped up again gradually from mid-March 2025, KTM AG will be provided with financial resources totaling EUR 50 million from the extended circle of shareholders. The planned full capacity utilization of the four production lines in single-shift operation is to be achieved within three months.

Pierer hands over KTM as investors step forward https://www.motoheadmag.com/pierer-hands-over-ktm-as-investors-step-forward/ Fri, 24 Jan 2025 11:19:36 +0000 https://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=41670 The man who rebuilt KTM, Stefan Pierer, is handing over the reins of his cash-strapped company to businessman Gottfried Neumeister, as several investors have stepped forward with bids to inject cash. This seems to be to Pierer and KTM as a motorcycle manufacturer rather than its R&D centre or racing teams.

It’s thought two offers are from Far Eastern motorcycle manufacturers, India’s Bajaj and China’s CF Moto which already manufactures some bikes and parts for KTM. Another potential invester is thought to be FountainVest, an investment first in the USA and Asia.

Amid fallng bike sales and over-investment in other brands like MV Agusta, KTM has laid off around 1800 workers and has massive stocks of unsold bikes. Revenues are down 29% and sales of bikes to dealers 21%.

KTM entered a 90-day ‘self-administration’ process on November 29 with total liabilities estimated at around €2.9 billion and around 2500 creditors, across three separate insolvencies.

New Ferrari F1 driver Lewis Hamilton is said to be interested in investing in the MotoGP team, but this is not a huge part of the debt.

The news was revealed by Pierer Mobility last night and reads:

Stefan Pierer, CEO of KTM AG for many years, is handing over the management of the company to his Co-CEO Gottfried Neumeister. With this step, one of the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturers is strategically positioning itself for the future. Pierer will continue to accompany the reorganization process as a member of the Executive Board with full commitment and will remain part of the KTM family.
Since taking over KTM in 1992, Stefan Pierer has built the company from a regional motorcycle manufacturer with 160 employees into a global brand with legendary status in the motorcycle industry with 5000 employees. Today, for millions of fans, KTM stands for innovation, performance and a spirit of adventure like no other brand – values that will remain in focus under the new management.

“For me, KTM was always more than just a company – it was and is a passion, a mission and a family. The decision to hand over the helm was not an easy one. I am deeply convinced that Gottfried Neumeister, with his strategic foresight and commitment, is the right choice to lead KTM into the future,” says Stefan Pierer.

Gottfried Neumeister brings extensive experience in corporate management, including many years as a board member of flyniki and DO &CO. He emphasizes: “Stefan Pierer has created a unique company that reflects the passion and pioneering spirit of all employees. I see it as my task to preserve this legacy and at the same time to break new ground. KTM stands for courage, innovation and passion – values that we will continue to live by and carry into the future. Together with our team, we will continue to strengthen KTM and set new standards to build the best motorcycles in the world.”

With the new management structure, KTM is ideally equipped to master the challenges of the future and continue its success story. The focus remains on innovation, performance and the continuous development of a motorcycle brand that inspires millions of fans worldwide. KTM remains focused on redefining the limits of what is possible on two wheels. The company will continue on its path with the same determination that has made it a global icon under the leadership of Stefan Pierer.

    About Gottfried Neumeister

After completing his studies in international business administration at the University of Vienna, Gottfried Neumeister worked as a consultant at Siemens AG Austria. In 2003, he founded flyniki together with Niki Lauda and was responsible for the successful development of the aviation business (until its sale to Air Berlin). In 2012, Mr. Neumeister moved to DO &CO Aktiengesellschaft, where he held various positions on the Management Board, most recently (2021-2023) as Co-CEO. Gottfried Neumeister has been Co-CEO of PIERER Mobility AG and KTM AG since September 1, 2024. He has also been a member of the Executive Board of Pierer Industrie AG since January 1, 2025.

PIERER Mobility AG: Preliminary key figures for the 2024 financial year

Revenue: around EUR 1.9 billion (-29%)

Sales of motorcycles (to dealers): 292,497 motorcycles (-21%)

Negative EBITDA due to operating losses and allowances

Sustained strong end customer demand (retail)

    Stock reduction in full swing

Stefan Pierer hands over CEO role to Gottfried Neumeister

    Preliminary key financial figures 2024

From today’s perspective, the PIERER Mobility Group expects consolidated revenue of around EUR 1.9 billion in 2024 (previous year: around EUR 2.7 billion). This corresponds to a decrease of around 29% compared to the 2023 financial year.

Due to a significant reduction in operating performance and one-off restructuring expenses, the Executive Board anticipates a negative EBITDA (result from operating activities before depreciation and amortization) of around EUR 300 million for the 2024 financial year (before necessary allowances as part of the restructuring process). Expected impairments on intangible assets and goodwill will have an additional negative impact on EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes). Free cash flow will amount to a high negative triple-digit million figure. As a result, net debt is also expected to increase further in the second half of 2024.

    Far-reaching restructuring measures

The 2024 financial year was characterized by far-reaching restructuring measures. To date, a total of more than 1,800 employees have been cut across the Group. In addition, production output was deliberately curtailed to reduce the number of motorcycles held by dealers and importers.

By reducing the production volume to around 230,000 motorcycles (-26% compared to 2023), global inventories were relieved by around 40,000 units (-18%). This represents an important first step in the restructuring plan.

Declining sales (to dealers), continued strong end customer demand (retail)

In the 2024 financial year, the Group sold 292,497 motorcycles (of which around 60,000 were sold via its Indian partner Bajaj), around 21% fewer than in the previous year (372,511 motorcycles). Around 110,000 motorcycles were sold on the European market. Europe thus accounted for 38% of Group sales; North America accounted for 24%, India and Indonesia (via partner Bajaj) for 21% and the remaining sales countries for 17%.

On a positive note, demand from consumers was strong. Distributors and dealers sold around 268,000 motorcycles to retail customers, the same level as last year. This demonstrates the continued high level of trust that dealers and consumers place in the company. Recent racing successes have confirmed this confidence. With three consecutive victories in the Enduro World Championship, two Supercross season openers and the first Dakar Rally win across all major motorcycle categories, the 2025 motorsport season has got off to a successful start.

In the Bicycle segment, the Group sold 106,311 electric bikes and bicycles (previous year: 155,859), which corresponds to a decline of around 32%. This decline in sales resulted from the sale of the R Raymon brand.

    Financial calendar

Due to the ongoing reorganization proceedings of the main Group company KTM AG, PIERER Mobility AG will probably publish its annual financial report 2024 in the second half of April 2025. Accordingly, the 28th Annual General Meeting and all related dates will also be postponed. As soon as the exact dates are available, they will be updated on the website https://www.pierermobility.com/en/investor-relations/financial-calendar.

PIERER Mobility AG: Several financing offers received from investors

Until today PIERER Mobility AG has received several offers from investors as part of the investor process structured by Citigroup Global Markets Europe AG. With these offers, investors have declared that they will make financial resources available to the PIERER Group. The funds will either be made available to PIERER Mobility AG for onward transfer to subsidiaries, in particular to KTM AG, or will flow directly to KTM AG or its subsidiaries.

Based on the available offers, financing at the level of PIERER Mobility AG supplemented by debt instruments at the level of KTM AG or its subsidiaries is also a possibility.

With the financial resources offered, the quota from the restructuring plans of KTM AG and its insolvent subsidiaries can be financed at least to the statutory extent of 30 per cent.

The company will enter into discussions with the investors who have submitted offers in order to define the detailed structure of the investments.

    BODYWORK AND GRAPHICS

The KTM 390 ENDURO R and KTM 125 ENDURO R boast a slim and compact profile thanks to a compact nine-litre metal fuel tank and small off-road-focused fairings. These not only reduce overall width, but they also provide a level of fuel tank protection while optimising rider ergonomics when standing on the pegs.

    CTG AND GRAPHICS

The 2025 KTM 125 ENDURO R and KTM 390 ENDURO R feature a completely new, offroad-inspired styling, with a clear and definitive KTM design set in resilient in-mold graphics.

    SUSPENSION AND CHASSIS

A new two-piece steel trellis frame design is based on the Gen Three platform shared with the DUKE models but features a different steering head angle, triple clamps with 25 mm handlebar risers, subframe mounts and rigidity profile, specifically engineered for off-road use with improved handling, control and stability.

The new frame is also designed for greater clearance for the radiator package and to accommodate a bigger 21-inch wheel, with the footpeg mounting position optimised for offroad riding.

    SUBFRAME

The new subframe sports a sleek, offroad-inspired bolt-on steel trellis design. This unique design

contributes to a strong and sturdy build and the subframe was specifically crafted to offer a one-piece seat while having long-stroke suspension, as well as being stylish, functional and thoughtfully designed for purpose.

On the rear, both models feature an off-centre WP APEX shock absorber with 230 mm of travel, with the KTM 390 ENDURO R boasting adjustable rebound with 20 click steps. Preload is adjustable with a tool.

    BRAKES

Both motorcycles come equipped with 285 mm axial Bybre brakes on the front and 240 mm single piston brakes on the back. These ensure powerful braking performance on the road, with equally impressive stopping power on the dirt.

Both KTM ENDURO R models come with a selectable off-road ABS mode which remains engaged after the ignition is switched off. Offroad ABS mode allows locking of the rear wheel, offering riders optimised control in offroad environments. There is also a dedicated ABS off switch that disengages ABS on both wheels.

    ENGINE

Both KTM ENDURO R models are powered by a new generation of lightweight and compact small singlecylinder engines dubbed the LC4c, which debuted in the 2024 KTM DUKE range.

Building off the experience gained with the previous generation of small single-cylinder engines, these powerplants are completely redesigned, with newly optimised cylinder heads and gearboxes adhering to EURO 5+ compliance.

This new engine platform introduces updated service intervals, with the first service required at 1,000 km,followed by a regular service every 10,000 km thereafter. Valve checks are performed every 20,000 km.

    CYLINDER HEAD

This new LC4c powerplant features a larger valve cover with a smaller cylinder head, reducing the weight at the upper end of the engine. A new thermostat position – mounted directly into the cylinder head – improves thermal monitoring and provides more stable running temperatures under different riding conditions.

    FUEL INJECTION

New injectors are now angled directly into the inlet valves to reduce build-up in the inlet channel. These new injectors also provide a finer fuel spray, making for more efficient combustion and less emissions.

    NEW AIRBOX

A new airbox has been specifically optimised to suit the KTM ENDURO R. This allows the engine to sit higher, increasing ground clearance and allowing a more offroad focused rider triangle.

    EXHAUST

A unique stainless steel exhaust design means the system fitted to the KTM 390 ENDURO R and KTM 125 ENDURO R does not need an end muffler, resulting in a total weight saving of two kilograms.

The new exhaust is equipped with a Double Catalyzer to comply with Euro 5+ regulations and features active control whereby the ECU not only adjusts the fuel mixture for optimal detonation but also adjusts the mixture to ensure an optimal temperature to reduce emissions. The active combustion system also works to detect any misfires, helping to diagnose the status of the catalytic converter and store information for OBDII diagnosis.

    GEARBOX AND CLUTCH

Improved gear guidance, achieved by replacing the previous five mm guides with six mm guides at the fork pins and implementing other small optimisations, reduces shift forces within the gearbox.

The shift drum shape has been optimised for easier shifting between the fifth and sixth gears, making for smoother movements of the gears along the shafts. The shift lever travel is reduced, resulting in quicker and more responsive action.

A Power Assisted Slipper Clutch is now installed on all models, with optimised gears on the clutch basket and flywheel to reduce weight and make for easier clutch control. An optional Quickshifter+ system is also available.

    TECH

Setting the benchmark in the smaller displacement dual-sport segment, the 2025 KTM 125 ENDURO R and KTM 390 ENDURO R boast real-world technological advancements that not only enhance the riding experience but also safety.

    NEW DASHBOARD

The ENDURO R range comes with a new 4.2-inch TFT dashboard with a unique User Interface (UI) specially designed for the compact screen size. A USB C port is fitted as standard.

Made from bonded glass, the TFT also features a polarisation coating to reduce glare and improve

visibility in bright light environments. This ensures riders can quickly and easily see all relevant

information such as speed, fuel level and gear indicator.

The new dashboards are supported by completely redesigned switchgear featuring a four-way Joystick with optimised ergonomics and illuminated switches. These allow riders to control various functions of the motorcycle such as lights, indicators, ride modes and to interact with different connectivity features.

The new switch cubes have an integrated and dedicated ABS-off switch.

A new connectivity unit connects the motorcycle to the rider’s smartphone via Bluetooth. It enables the rider to access features such as turn-by-turn navigation, music library directly from the dashboard, call in and out, and Remote Control Mode, which allows the rider to control their phone via the switch cubes.

    RIDE MODES

The KTM 390 ENDURO R features selectable ride modes. OFFROAD mode allows riders more rear wheel slip, making it easier to lift the front wheel over obstacles or slide the rear wheel when needed. The default setting is STREET MODE, calibrated for optimum use in general street riding.

For riders looking for even more control, Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) can also be turned off.

A new memory feature is added to the 2025 line-up. When the motorcycle is turned off, it remembers your selected Ride Mode and retains this mode upon restart.

All KTM ENDURO R models are fitted with a Bosch 10.3MB Modulator, delivering dual channel ABS.The KTM 125 ENDURO R has no selectable ride modes.

    LED LIGHTS

Both models in the 2025 range feature LED lights, providing excellent visibility during the day and

    illumination at night.
