Following a strong opening round in the Netherlands, expectations were high and the event did not disappoint. Despite persistent rain and tough weather conditions, the technically demanding track and exceptional organizational efforts ensured a successful, safe and action-packed experience for riders and fans alike.

Across all classes, the intensity of the competition was palpable, with the muddy and slick conditions demanding every ounce of skill and mental focus. Riders responded with impressive resilience and unwavering determination, making for a memorable showcase of European motocross talent.

EMX85
British talent Harry Dale (KTM), who races in Europe on a foreign licence, continued his commanding form this season. After clinching victory in the Netherlands, he returned to the top with two dominant race wins in Esbjerg. Luca Nierychlo (KTM) followed with a pair of solid second-place finishes, while Maxim Zimmerman (Husqvarna) secured the double third.

EMX65

The EMX65 class saw the rise of a new contender, as Jett Gardiner (KTM) from Great Britain took control of both races, outpacing round-one winner Haakon Ronning (KTM) of Norway, who claimed two strong second-place finishes. Dutch riders Jann Huisman (Yamaha) and Bas Verspaandonk (GasGas) shared third-place honors, each stepping onto the podium with confidence.

EMX Women’s
Reigning World Champion Lucy Baker (KTM) made a triumphant return to the top, winning Race 1 after a fierce battle with Denmark’s Malou Jacobsen (KTM). Elsa Andersson Lof (GasGas) secured third in the opening heat. In Race 2, it was a thrilling duel between Sara Andersen (Yamaha) and Lynn Valk (KTM), the winner of round one in the Netherlands. Valk narrowly missed out on victory, finishing just four seconds behind Andersen. Lucy Baker took third place in Race 2, which was enough to secure the Overall win for the weekend.

The Open Day will include classes for all riders on all bikes, 65cc and over, at a cost of £30 per rider. All profits will go into the Team GB Junior Motocross World Championship pot. Team boss Dave Willet, and trainers Glen Philips and Ashley Wilde will be on hand throughout the day to offer advice and support, while sharing a top racing/training tip or two.

Team GB Junior Motocross World Championship team manager Willet is busily preparing for the 2025 edition of the highly-competitive World Championship in France this July.

The 2024 ACU Team GB squad secured an impressive third overall in The Netherlands, just a single point behind the second-placed team. “The aim for this year”, said Willet, “is to build on the immense progress already made over the past few years, and work towards consolidating Team GB as a world-leading operation, with excellent credentials, both on and off-track.”

Willet’s core crew of Philips, Wilde and Lee Dunham, who are a vital part of the riders’ support network throughout the whole World Championship process, are back on board as are Team GB’s loyal band of sponsors and backers, together with a small army of volunteers.

Willet added; “Our fantastic sponsors and backers, and of course the ACU, always step up and we are grateful for their help. It plays a huge part in helping us get to the Junior Worlds. Fundraising days, such as this one at Apex, allows riders of all ages and abilities to get involved, support the team effort and become a part of that family. A big shout out goes to Lee of Apex for his generosity in making the track available to us.

“We had a great time at the Junior Worlds last year with all riders, families and friends showing that great GB spirit, and we want to do the same again this year. We have other fundraisers in the pipeline, and we’ll release details shortly.”

The 2025 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship will take place on the 6th of July at Romagné in northwest France.

Now entering its fifth year of safely introducing talented young riders to competing on MXGP circuits, the Junior e-Motocross Series continues to grow in popularity with each passing season. Contested over five rounds and featuring a Time Practice session followed by two points-paying races, the series puts aspiring youngsters one step closer to realising their dreams of one day becoming a professional racer.

Following the opening round in Ernee, France, the series continues one week later at a regular stop on the calendar – Teutschenthal in Germany – on June 1. Three weeks later the tour resumes for round three at the popular Matterley Basin circuit in southern England on June 22. Then, after a five-week break, the final two rounds take place in the Czech Republic and draw to a close what’s expected to be another memorable year of racing.

The entry requirements remain the same for 2025. Riders must compete on a KTM SX-E 5, GASGAS MC-E 5, or Husqvarna EE 5, and be aged between 6-8 years old (age taken on January 1, 2025). A valid racing licence from a national federation is also necessary, as well as a commitment to entering at least three rounds of the series. All entrants will receive a special care package consisting of branded merchandise dependent on the bike they register with at the first event they attend.

• Harvey Collins: Returning to the Big Wheel 85cc class, Harvey is eager to bounce back after an injury cut short his 2024 campaign. Harvey will compete in the Fix Auto UK MXGB ACU British Youth Motocross Championship and is determined to challenge for the championship title.
• Leo Wilson: Promoted to the Big Wheel 85cc class at the Fix Auto UK MXGB ACU British Youth Motocross Championship after an impressive 4th-place finish in the Small Wheel category last season, Leo will also represent the team in the European EMX85 qualifying rounds in the Netherlands and Denmark. His sights are firmly set on a breakthrough year.
• Jimmy Boxall: Entering his second season in the Small Wheel 85cc class, Jimmy will compete in the Fix Auto UK MXGB ACU British Youth Motocross Championship and the Bridgestone Championship. With valuable experience under his belt, he’s poised for a strong campaign.
• Jack Stanford and Harrison Chiddey: Joining the team for 2025, Jack and Harrison will compete in the 65cc category of the Fix Auto UK MXGB ACU British Youth Motocross Championship. These rising stars bring enthusiasm and potential to the team.
• Libby Chatburn: A standout rider, Libby will compete in the ACU British Ladies Championship at the Fix Auto UK MXGB ACU British Youth Motocross Championship while also taking on the Acerbis Nationals and AMCA Championships. As a key ambassador for women in motocross, she’s ready to inspire and excel.

In a move that will send a clear message to the rest of the motocross world that the UK’s youth squad means business, PGVM has committed to supplying bespoke and top-end transport and paddock facilities that could easily rival several MotoGP setups.

Team GB is no longer a mere participant in the world’s largest and hotly-contested youth motocross championship, it is a leader and one that hundreds of UK hopefuls aspire to join. In recent years, the professional Team GB setup has also earned the respect of Team Managers and influencers from competing countries.

“The goal”, says Team GB Junior Worlds manager Dave Willet, “is to create a factory team-level environment for our Team GB young competitors, liaising with the ACU to build a team structure and working with high-quality external companies, such as PGVM, to deliver that objective.

“It’s absolutely inspiring to see Paul and Dan Grimshaw’s unwavering passion for British motocross. The partnership with PGVM promises to give our very talented young riders the edge they need to make a mark on the international motocross stage. This is just the start for 2025. The 2025 edition of the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship will take place on the 6th of July at Romagné in northwest France.

Fresh off their podium success in Holland, the team is undoubtedly gearing up for another stellar performance. With dedicated preparation from riders, parents, and support staff alike, we’re anticipating a showcase of skill and determination. The Romagné circuit promises to be a true test of mettle, offering our young athletes the perfect stage to shine on the world stage.

The club started in 1981 and has held lots of internationals over the years. And Mathys Boisrame is a club member. The circuit is near Fougeres in North West France so is easy to get to from cross-channel ferries.

Yamaha Motor Europe is excited to announce the winners of the 2024 YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup, following an intense two days of training and assessment under the watchful eyes of bLU cRU coaches Gautier Paulin, Brian Jørgensen and Nancy van de Ven during the YZ bLU cRU Masterclass at Motocross des Costières in the South of France.

In the face of stiff competition, 16-year-old Briton Jamie Keith was selected as the winner of this year’s YZ125 Cup. Keith will step up to contest EMX125 in 2025 with a fully supported ride in the JK Racing Yamaha team.

In the YZ85 class it was 13-year-old Dutch rider Kay Zijlstra who was identified during the YZ bLU cRU Masterclass as the rider with the most potential, from a group in which the level of all the riders was extremely high. Zijlstra will receive direct Yamaha support for his 2025 season.

In the YZ65 Cup it proved impossible to separate British rider Tommy Wood and Dutch rider Jann Huisman, both of whom are 10 years of age. As a result, both riders will now receive the same level of support for their 2025 campaigns, with Wood supported by Yamaha Motor Europe and Huisman supported by Yamaha Motor Benelux.

In 2024 Yamaha Motor Europe’s bLU cRU program featured hundreds of talented riders racing across Europe, all chasing a place on the start gate at the YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale, which this year ran as an integral part of the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin and, for the first time, featured riders from the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and Brazil.

From the 113 riders who competed in the YZ SuperFinale, the top three European finishers from each class, along with two wildcard riders and the top-performing female rider in each category, were invited to the prestigious bLU cRU Masterclass at Motocross des Costières in Beauvoisin, France in November.

At the Masterclass the riders had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and receive guidance from bLU cRU coaches Paulin, Van de Ven and Jørgensen, who then had the unenviable job of selecting the winners from an increasingly talented group.

After the resounding success of the 2024 YZ Cup, in 2025 a further 120 riders from Cups and Challenges around the world will compete to win a place on the gate at the YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale, the venue for this epic event will be announced shortly.

RHL Activities aims to build on this foundation, bringing its expertise in event management and promotion to the BSMA, while preserving the community-driven ethos at the heart of this storied organisation. The 2025 Championship will showcase the talent of BSMA riders on a national scale, delivering the familiar format BSMA members have come to love.

Under this new partnership, RHL Activities will work closely with the BSMA to provide a platform for both competitive young riders and those seeking national-level experience, ensuring recognition and opportunities for all.

Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities, shared his vision for the partnership, stating, “We’ve taken a close look at the British motocross landscape and believe that by bringing a high level of organisation and professionalism to the BSMA, we can truly elevate the grassroots of our sport. It’s about offering young riders the chance to grow and gain recognition, while staying true to the community spirit of the BSMA.”

This initiative is the first step in a broader vision RHL Activities has for the future of British motocross, with further exciting developments planned in the years ahead.
