Starting with skid plates, Works Connection soon made a name for themselves supplying the top AMA motocross teams with frame guards, bike stands and radiator braces in the 90’s. The range now includes precision products such as the Pro Launch Device and Elite Lever Assembly, which Apico are excited about distributing to its dealer network.

Apico’s Dylan Brown said: “Works Connection is a brand I’ve followed since the early days, seeing parts on AMA Factory Machinery over the decades proves the race-bred quality of the brand and its products. One of the standout products for me is the Pro Launch Device and how that one product revolutionised race starts in motocross racing. We’ll roll the whole Works Connection range out to our 600+ dealer network in the U.K. and riders will have a vast range of products to choose from”.

Eric Phipps: “We are incredibly pleased to add Apico Factory Racing as our latest Distributor for Works Connection products in the UK. After our initial meetings, we felt we were both on the same page and our business practices and ideas for the future lined up nicely. It’s always a pleasure to work with people who are as passionate about motocross as we are, and just as passionate about running a business. We are looking forward to working with Dylan and Anna and the Apico Factory Racing company while providing our WC products for the UK market.”

Upgrade your KTM with smartphone connectivity https://www.motoheadmag.com/upgrade-your-ktm-with-smartphone-connectivity/ Wed, 31 Jan 2024 10:09:42 +0000 https://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=39343 Expand the possibilities of KTM’s class-leading dirt bike technology by retrofitting the Connectivity Unit Offroad (CUO) to all KTM SX-F motorcycles from 2023 and 2024 model year to revel in that special ‘factory’ treatment. After the success and positive reaction to the recent launch of the 2024 KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, KTM has now made the CUO obtainable as a KTM PowerParts addition for KTM SX-F models across the 2023 and 2024 collections.

The CUO was one of the main features of the 2024 FACTORY EDITIONs and a result of the bikes being raced in 2024 AMA Supercross and Motocross. Thanks to easy-to-install, highly durable hardware and the options contained through the free KTMConnect App, the CUO is the doorway to next-level riding.

The advantages are three-fold: simplistic engine management and suspension set-up, and full in depth analysis through the RIDER section of the KTMConnect App. The CUO is a two-part system mounted between the right fork leg and the GPS component on the redesigned front fender. Racers and users can now activate a series of wireless connectivity functions to fully customise their KTM for a variety of track conditions, and also dissect and improve their own on-track efforts.

When it comes to KTM SX-F motors, riders can opt for PRIME (toggling levels of Traction Control) or ADVANCED settings (engine braking, throttle response, traction control and launch control), as well as engaging the Quickshifter. There are also presets for specific terrain with SAND, GRAVEL, HARD PACK, DRY and WET parameters.

Selecting the SAG ASSISTANT or SUSPENSION SETTINGS tabs on KTMConnect gives recommendations and suggestions, allowing further personalisation based on weight and skill set, as well as the type of track or weather conditions.

RIDER* harnesses the potential of the CUO thanks to a beneficial alliance with analysis experts LitPro. RIDER not only breaks down the motorcycle’s data used lap-by-lap but also gives concise information on each session: in effect a ‘virtual coach’. Based around data collected from speed, acceleration, deceleration, average speed, g-force, air-time, jump height, gearing, RPM, throttle position, water temperature, traction control, maps switch mode and more, calculations are made to show a rider’s trajectory and analytics to perfect the ideal course and batter the chrono. After the moto, riders can also share their recordings and widen their community moto experience. Attach a heart rate monitor and RIDER goes even more in-depth.

Shave those lap-times, hone that technique and bask in the full-throttle prospects of the KTM SX-F family with the KTM Connectivity Unit Offroad add-on, available for £216.60. Available from February 2024 at Authorised KTM Dealers.

For more information on the Connectivity Unit Offroad (CUO) click HERE.

*An annual subscription to RIDER through KTMConnect is available for only £59.99 and sourced easily from Apple’s App store and Google Play.

Fox reveals 50th anniversary Anaheim 1 kit https://www.motoheadmag.com/fox-reveals-50th-anniversary-anaheim-1-kit/ Thu, 04 Jan 2024 17:09:59 +0000 https://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=39116 Fox Racing, the global leader in motocross and mountain biking gear and apparel, celebrates its 50th anniversary year paying homage to the brand’s vision of Honor Yesterday, Conquer Today, Invent Tomorrow. The idea will be brought to life throughout 2024 by honoring stories from the past, conquering new product launches and race weekends, and continuing the pursuit of performance innovations that will define the future of racewear. The first installment can be viewed today on www.foxracing.com, through brand social channels globally, and extending through Anaheim 1 and San Francisco Supercross.

The brand’s vision (Honor, Conquer, Invent) is derived from the founding principles established by the Fox family in the early years of the company, including a quote from the founder, Geoff Fox: “Change is the only constant.” In 2024, change comes in the form of the official introduction of the new logo mark, an evolution of the iconic Fox Head logo drawn in 1975. “While the logo has gone through many changes over the years, it’s never lost what it stands for – a family-values-based way of working, technical innovation, and passion for our sports and evolving them,” said Chad Hilton, VP of Brand, who stewarded the change across Fox Racing products and digital channels in 2023.

Fox Racing reaffirms the new Fox Head logo and evolution of branding through the launch of the 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Collection at Anaheim 1, including the all-new V3 RS helmet, Instinct boots, Vue goggles, and 360 racewear. The collection also features a color palette crafted for both design evolution and nostalgic reminiscences of past styles through vibrant and bold race graphics.

While the first two rounds of Supercross signify a monumental milestone for the brand, Fox Racing has its sights set on future product introductions and innovations across all categories.

The 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Collection will be available on www.foxracing.com, at participating Fox Racing dealers and channels globally. Follow @foxracingeurope on Instagram for the official release dates of each collection and exclusive information celebrating the brand’s 50th anniversary.

Road legal status for Dunlop knobblies https://www.motoheadmag.com/road-legal-status-for-dunlop-knobblies/ Tue, 27 Apr 2021 08:12:48 +0000 http://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=29900 Two of Dunlop’s highly durable off-road tyres have been updated with new designations that are set to provide substantial benefits to leisure riders and hardcore enduro enthusiasts alike.

The Dunlop D952, a tyre designed for recreational off-road use, has received ECE R75 certification. This means it can be used legally on the road as well as on tracks, saving riders the expense and resources associated with transporting specialist equipment.

The new categorisation has been granted to four of the six sizes within the D952 range and is available from April 2021. The road-legal specifications of this hardy tyre are 110/90-18 61M, 110/90-19 62M, 120/90-18 65M and 80/100-21 51M.

Designed to work across a wide variety of terrain, the D952 is based on a high-durability construction that promotes long wear and supreme traction. Its pattern is derived from the popular D752, while the addition of road legality further highlights its status as a perfect tyre for off-road leisure use.

Another significant development within Dunlop’s extensive off-road range is the application of M+S (mud and snow) marking to all three sizes of the D908 RR enduro tyre. This means that Dunlop’s road-legal dual-sport/desert pattern can now be fitted to bikes with a higher top speed than the tyre’s speed rating, opening it up to an even wider range of machinery.

Recent off-road enduro bikes such as the Honda CRF 1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports, Yamaha Tenere 700 and several KTM models ranging from the 250 EXC all the way up to the 1290 Super Adventure R can be equipped with Dunlop’s D908 RR in its updated M+S form.

The Husqvarna 701 Enduro, BMW G450X and SWM RS650R are also covered, along with the PR7 Adventure 650 from AJP and the EC 450 Raid from GasGas.

The exceptional durability of D908 RR, stemming from its rally-raid competition roots, provides unbeatable performance on the toughest riding surfaces including sand, rocks and hard ground.

Dmitri Talboom, Product Manager Dunlop Motorcycle EMEA: “Off-road is a key arm of Dunlop’s motorcycle division and we are proud to continue developing our products in this field to meet the needs of the modern rider. The ECE R75 certification for D952 is a game-changer for enthusiasts who can now ride to their favourite tracks and get going right away without changing tyres. Furthermore, the M+S marking for D908 RR is important for introducing a new range of machinery to this pattern’s rally-raid attributes.”
