It’s Arenacross time! https://www.motoheadmag.com/its-arenacross-time/ Fri, 03 Jan 2025 11:13:20 +0000 https://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=41587 The 2025 Arenacross World Tour bursts into life this Saturday 4th at the BP Pulse Arena, Birmingham and it’s all set to be the best in the 11-year history of Arenacross, to kick off the new year with some genuine excitement.  And there’s also a full Livestream package announced in case you can’t make it.

Not only is Birmingham the first round of the new ACU British Arenacross championship, it’s also the first qualifying round for the inaugural World Tour and the start of the road to Abu Dhabi, where the World Tour Finals will be held at the awesome Etihad Arena on Yas Island.

Genuine anticipation has been building. Can Jack Brunell and his Stark Future Racing team retain their titles? Will Dean Wilson, returning to race a full British series since he left Glasgow for Canada as a kid, show all his US Supercross experience and claim his first ever British championship and World Tour crown? Or will Conrad Mewse be the man to beat and be third time lucky chasing a British title that has so far eluded him? How will Tommy Searle fair debuting the new Triumph in a national championship? Will it be a Frenchman winning another title in either Cedric Soubeyras, Adrien Escoffier, Yannis Irsuti or Thomas Ramette, the only rider to do the three-peat? Or will Jorge Zaragoza claim the first Spanish victory? Maybe there will be a surprise championship or event winner from a strong British contingent with the likes of Elliott Banks-Browne, Ash Greedy, Joe Clayton, Eddie Wade, Matt and Chris Bayliss, Taylor Hammel, Steven Clarke, Martin Barr, Tom Grimshaw or the very first AX champion Adam Chatfield to name a few, stepping up to the plate to taste the victory champagne?

Of course, Arenacross is far more than just pro racing. Expect to see some brilliant racing in the Amateur, Futures, Supermini and Mini classes with riders from as young as seven years of age gunning for glory. Especially the Futures and Supermini classes as the top six in each class will also be heading off to Abu Dhabi for the World Tour Finals. And let’s not forget the FMX athletes, who without, it simply wouldn’t be the Arenacross Tour that people in the U.K have come to expect. The ‘Fuel Girls’ will also be bringing the heat and lighting the touch paper to spark the 2025 Arenacross World Tour into life as the first major off road motorcycling championship in Europe gets underway.

If you haven’t got your tickets yet, it’s not too late. Get on www.axworldtour.com to purchase varying ticket packages from regular seats to VIP and track walks and get set for a night of high energy entertainment that will hopefully set the tone for a brilliant year of racing.

Arenacross 2025: British and world championship https://www.motoheadmag.com/arenacross-2025-british-and-world-championship/ Thu, 05 Sep 2024 08:35:40 +0000 https://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=40935

After 10 years of packing out UK arenas with over 500,000 fans, making it the most successful indoor motocross series outside of the U.S Supercross championship, the 2025 Arenacross Tour looks set to be the best year to date with the announcement that the tour will climax at the awesome Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on Saturday 26th April.

Not only this, but riders and teams will be going to battle for the £250,000 prize purse – possibly the richest indoor purse to date! (outside of the USA).

Britain’s best along with some of the world’s top dirt bike racers will all be battling it out under the lights across major UK cities in the race to Abu Dhabi. The all new ACU British Arenacross championship, exclusive to racers based in the UK, will run over the first six tour dates with the champion being crowned at Manchester’s AO Arena before the tour heads to the middle east and what is sure to be an intense, action packed ‘World Tour Finals’ where the winner will walk away £25,000 richer for their night’s work.

The opening round in Birmingham marks a significant landmark for Arenacross with it being the 100th night of the adrenaline inducing show that is more than just racing with dynamic FMX performances, pyrotechnics, lazers, a pumping soundtrack and the latest full-time addition to the AX tour – The Fuel Girls. Something Arenacross owner Matt Bates is particularly proud of as he strives and drives forward to make AX the largest multi-city World Tour for indoor Motocross.

“Arenacross has come such a long way since it started in 2013 at London’s iconic O2 Arena, so I feel hugely fortunate and proud that our live shows are spreading their wings, performing in the UK’s best arenas as well as finishing our amazing tour in Abu Dhabi’s incredible Etihad Arena in April. And now our fully-sanctioned British and World Tour Championship sets its path across the globe, our aim is to continue creating even greater live Motocross Shows that our loyal fans and riders love so much. 2025 is just the beginning for Arenacross”.

The 2024 Arenacross tour made significant history in the sport with Jack Brunell not only winning his first AX championship after 10 years of trying but also the first for an electric powered dirt bike, giving the Stark Future Racing Team their first international title in their debut championship quest. Brunell is obviously chomping at the bit to get the 2025 AX Tour underway where he’ll be doing all he can to make it two championships on the spin.

“I’m really looking forward to running the number one plate, it’s been a goal of mine for years. I’m also pleased and excited on the news of an official ACU British Arenacross championship being introduced. As a British rider I think it’s a huge step forward for AX in our country to help it grow and get more youngsters coming through and racing in packed out arenas. Then to have the opportunity with the World Tour rounds to get to Abu Dhabi is massive, credit to Matt Bates and the team for that and for looking at the long-term future of AX and the possibilities of taking it to countries all over the world. I’m excited and proud to be part of it, especially as the defending champion. Stark Future Racing now have a new race bike and I’m really looking forward to bringing that into the 2025 championship and going for the win again along with my teammates.”

The 2025 Arenacross Tour are also pleased to announce the opportunity for fans to purchase exclusive pre-sale discounted tickets for the eagerly awaited all new tour starting in Birmingham, England on Saturday 4th January. To be eligible for a 20% discount on Arenacross Tour tickets simply log on to www.axworldtour.com and sign up to the newsletter and you will be able to purchase exclusive pre-sale tickets when they go on sale tomorrow, Thursday 5th September at 10am.

UK Arenacross goes Middle East for 2025 https://www.motoheadmag.com/uk-arenacross-goes-middle-east-for-2025/ Tue, 02 Jul 2024 15:59:00 +0000 https://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=40543 The UK Arenacross Tour is now set to go further afield than just the UK for 2025 and beyond and will now be know as the ‘Arenacross World Tour!’

Starting in the Christmas and New Year holidays, the all-newAXWT will kick off for the first time on January 4th at the newly-named BP Pulse Arena, Birmingham, UK, with all further championship races qualifying the fastest 20 riders to the richest race in Arenacross history – The Abu Dhabi Arenacross World Tour Finals

Over the last 10 years over half-million fans have witnessed some of the most intense motorcycle racing to ever take place in the UK and arguably on the planet. Add in a generous amount of FMX action, Lazers, pyrotechnics and a kicking selection of music, it’s no wonder Arenacross has sold-out the UK’s biggest concert venues for over a decade.

Now it’s time for Arenacross to spread its wings and extend the series out of the UK where the state-of-the-art Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi (which is home to the annual Formula One finale), will host the final round of the tour on April 26th with the biggest prize purse in the history of Arenacross.

Arenacross CEO, Matt Bates commented: “I’m proud to announce that our decade of hard work is being rewarded with international expansion. Our plans mean that we want our season of Arenacross to stretch into a longer period by 2027, so whilst not every weekend will have an event in 2025, these open dates will become busier as we grow the championship and take Arenacross to more international venues over the next three years. I also believe that, like the US market, it’s important that our British indoor and outdoor motocross championships connect in some way and look forward to discussing this with the ACU”.

“So, at a time where a great night out is as important as the sport we love to watch, my aim is to create the ultimate season-ending “must-visit” World Tour Final event in an incredible location – Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, where this amazing destination has something for every family and motorsport fan on the planet”.

Check out Yas Island here: www.yasisland.com

For 2025 there will be two Arenacross championships – the ‘British’ and ‘World Tour Championship’. The British championship will be fought out at all races staged within the British Isles, whilst the AXWT also includes all races that take place outside of the UK.

Arenacross Races to London https://www.motoheadmag.com/arenacross-races-to-london/ Wed, 14 Feb 2024 21:16:09 +0000 https://www.motoheadmag.com/?p=39490 London’s calling as the climactic final round of the epic 2024 British Arenacross Championship presented by Fix Auto UK races to the capital on 24 February at the iconic OVO Arena Wembley.

After seven edge-of-your-seat rounds crossing the length and breadth of the country, the final is set to entertain fans and families alike with a high-octane mix of indoor Motocross racing and Freestyle Motocross, carefully choreographed into a three-hour live performance that includes lasers, pyrotechnics, and unscripted family-focused action all performed to a heart-pumping soundtrack.

Local hero Jack Brunell (Stark Future Racing) leads the Traxxas Pro Class by 12 points as he bids to end his decade-long wait for Arenacross championship glory, but with double points on offer, the Windsor native will be looking over his shoulder as several rivals remain in contention to take the crown. Brunell has 83 points compared to Harri Kullas on 71, who  is out following his crash at the last round. He dislocated his shoulder and has had surgery. Third is former AMA Supercross champ Juston Bogle on his Stark, from Adam Chatfield and Ashley Greedy. The event marks the return of Mel Pocock, back after recovering from a crash in an earlier round.

In the team standings, Brunell’s Stark Future Racing team lead on 86 points, with Mark McCann 64 YouTube Channel in second with 71 and FUS Marsh Geartec Husqvarna just two points behind in third.

As well as incredible racing all evening, fans can look forward to an electric atmosphere at the OVO Arena Wembley to celebrate the season finale. Expect jaw-dropping freestyle motocross performances, The Fuel Girls bringing the heat with their fired-up pyro show to warm up the crowd, t-shirt cannons, Mexican Waves, rider signings, vendors and plenty of noise means it’s a night you’ll never forget.

Elsewhere on the card, London’s own 9-year-old Jimmy Ball will be hoping to make a big impact in front of his ‘home’ crowd as he races in the AX65 youth class. Elsewhere Kent’s John Slade (10 years old) will be hoping local support carries him through to victory as the current leader of the AX65 Championship.

Reigning Arenacross British Champion, Kent born Tommy Searle will be unable to compete at Wembley and retain his title following an accident earlier in the series. In his role as series ambassador, he’ll be present throughout the event to meet fans, work with the media and keep a watchful eye on the competition, he said: “I love Arenacross and it’s very difficult to be sitting on the sidelines not taking part, but as a fan the championship battle is hugely exciting to watch.

“I’d love to be out there battling for the title, but I’m delighted to be able to continue being part of the event and look forward to meeting as many fans as possible at OVO Arena, Wembley!”

The event will also welcome one of the fastest rising stars of the dirt racing scene, Olivia Reynolds. The teenager from Northampton has been riding motocross bikes since age of three, has been taken under the wing of the legendary US racer Travis Pastrana and holds the world record for the youngest female to ever land a backflip on an MX bike.

Matt Bates, Arenacross Promoter said: “I can’t believe we’re heading to London already! It’s been an amazing season of the British Arenacross Championship presented by Fix Auto UK, with the best yet to come as we go down to the wire.

“The battle in the Traxxas Pro Class has been epic so far and one thing’s for sure, we’ll be crowning a brand-new Arenacross British Champion in London.

“London is without doubt one of our favourite places to visit and there’s no greater buzz than the sight and sound of the crowd rocking at the iconic OVO Arena Wembley as our riders and show wow the fans.

From racing to freestyle, The Fuel Girls and much more – Arenacross is a high-octane evening for the whole family that’s not to be missed!”
